Former Migori Senator Wilfred Machage Dies in Nigeria

Kenya’s High Commissioner to Nigeria Wilfred Gisuka Machage is dead.

Machage, 65, collapsed and died at his home in Abuja, Nigeria on Saturday, family has confirmed.

Sospeter Magita, the deceased’s twin brother, told the Standard that the envoy died shortly after having lunch.

“It is a very sad moment that I have today lost my best friend and confidant,” he said. 

Magita noted that his brother passed on while in the company of his wife.

The former Migori Senator was appointed as ambassador by President Uhuru Kenyatta in January 2018.

He was first elected to Parliament in 2002, representing Kuria constituency. He was re-elected in 2007 on a Democratic party ticket.

Machage also served as Migori County Senator between 2013 and 2017.
