Nixon Korir: Why Uhuru Fell Out with Ruto

The fundamental cause of the rupture between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, according to Lang’ata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir, is deception.

According to Korir, Uhuru was allegedly using Ruto in a “use and dump” strategy in order to obtain more votes in both the 2013 and 2017 national elections.

“Kenyans should not be fooled. Ruto never did anything wrong to Uhuru. I think deceit by the President is what caused the fallout between the two and it was because Uhuru was just using Ruto to get votes in both elections. It was part of the game of using and dumping,” Korir told the Star.

The UDA-aligned MP went on to criticize the upcoming Sagana Three trip, in which it is said that President Kenyatta will ‘spill beans’ on why he fell out with his deputy.

The president is set to address the third meeting at Sagana State Lodge, dubbed Sagana 3, next month, where he is anticipated to ‘deconstruct’ the anti-handshake forces, as confirmed by Jubilee vice chair David Murathe.

The tour, according to Korir, will have no effect on Kenyans who have decided to support and vote for Ruto in the August polls.

“Which beans are these? Uhuru Kenyatta is the president and if something went wrong in Kenya, it is him to blame and not another person. As UDA we don’t know which ‘beans’ these are but we will just listen and continue with the Hustler’s journey we started,” Korir said.

He claimed that the president wants to choose his successor for his “personal project,” hence the Raila Odinga project.

“He doesn’t want to go home. In fact, If he had the opportunity to change the Constitution to remain in power he would have done it. But our constitution is very clear that on the serving term and forcing candidates on Kenyans will not work,” Korir noted.

Last August, the head of state who is supporting a Raila presidency, said the rain started to beat them after his deputy started criticizing the very government he serves.

Uhuru claimed that the DP had been focusing on his presidential ambitions, which he claimed was his constitutional right, while destroying his agenda in the eyes of the people by opposing the same administration he serves.

Legislators loyal to the DP want the head of state to spill the beans but want him to state why he mistreated them in his second term while favouring those on Raila’s side.
