Kalonzo Willing to Work with Raila If He Honours 2017 Pact

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stated that he is willing to cooperate with Raila Odinga of the ODM once more.

The Wiper leader sparked controversy when he stated that he now wants Raila to honor a pre-election arrangement they made in 2017.

Kalonzo spoke on Tuesday at the Kalonzo Musyoka Command Centre, where he emphasized that negotiations must be structured this time around.

“As we begin the fresh round of political negotiation in our country, I have been compelled to release this document due to the often said statement that I am an indecisive kingmaker and that I would be a fool to support Raila Odinga for the third time,” he said.

He accused Raila of not following through on their 2017 National Super Alliance coalition pact (Nasa) which was signed on April 30, 2017.

Kalonzo also debunked claims that he and the ODM leader are at odds.

“There is no tension between me and my brother Raila Odinga,” he said.

The Wiper leader also expressed interest in reuniting with the former prime minister, but only if he agrees to sign the pact they secretly signed in the run-up to the 2017 elections.

At the same time, Kalonzo stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta should be in charge of the talks with Raila.

“He (Uhuru) has a sense of authority and he is a sitting president and holds great sway,” he said.

“This was a secret agreement but the person who was to release it is already in breach of it.”

The former vice president also revealed that US-based lawyer Makau Mutua, whom he claimed to be the witness to the signing, has refused to call for dialogue between him and Raila to discuss the 2017 coalition agreement.

“I have tried in vain to have Makau Mutua call a meeting with Raila,” he added.

Raila has the option of staying true to his life-binding document and emerge a national and continental democratic hero, or he can choose not to and exacerbate the trust deficit, said Kalonzo.
