Kiraitu Was Coerced into Joining Azimio – DP Ruto Allies Allege

The Kenya Kwanza Alliance brigade has claimed that Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi was blackmailed into joining Azimio la Umoja movement.

Speaking on Saturday in Meru, the alliance led by deputy president William Ruto claimed the county boss was intimidated using his past.

Tharaka Nithi senator Kithure Kindiki told the electorate that they had engaged Kiraitu for the last six years.

“We’ve spoken with him for more than six years, showing him that the ground, and Meru in particular, was with Ruto. However, towards the end, he joined Azimio. Is it the people that sent him there?” posed the legislator.

“So, my brother, I’m sorry my brother but the ground has spoken. The next Meru governor will be Mithika Linturi.”

DP Ruto on his part told the people that he will not cowed by cheap antics as he expressed confidence in his team winning the August polls.

“They try to sell us the fear of the DCI, deep state, and the system but we want to inform them that we are not shaken,” said the second-in-command.

“We will not let you down. Those who were at the KICC event were busy organising seats and positions of power and we want to tell them that Kenyans seek employment, economic shift, and an agricultural-based revolution,” Ruto stated.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi hit out at Agriculture CS Peter Munya who chose to stay on as minister in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

Mudavadi stated that an outgoing president could not guarantee positions in the next government.

“The likes of Munya are being led to believe that they will get positions in another government by an outgoing President. My brother, how can a President who is retiring guarantee you a job in somebody else’s government?” Mudavadi posed.

Kiraitu joined the Raila Odinga-led movement on Tuesday during a rally in Meru.

He opined that his decision was informed by political trends within the area as well as consultations with the electorate.

“We have done our analysis, we have done our research, the next President of the Republic of Kenya is Raila Amolo Odinga,” he stated.

Kiraitu will face off with area senator Mithika Linturi and Woman Rep Kawira Mwangaza in the polls.
