I Will Not Be Intimidated – Sakaja Tells Off DCI Boss Kinoti

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has warned Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti that threats of arrest will not deter him.

Sakaja said in a statement on Friday that no amount of intimidation will affect the people of Nairobi’s desire for new leadership.

“Threats of arrest and persecution by the state will not intimidate us or change the will of the people of Nairobi. Our resolve remains firm,” he said on Facebook.

Sakaja insisted his credentials were legal, claiming that the relevant institutions had refused to play along with the DCI boss’s ‘games.’

“Bwana DCI Kinoti, I’m at my Riverside office, karibu or let me know if you’d like me to come over. our office will not install a project on the people of Nairobi,” he stated.

Following the scandal surrounding Sakaja’s degree diploma, Kinoti claimed on Thursday that they are investigating if the senator is a member of an international crime ring.

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Kinoti claimed that if the Senator is found guilty of falsifying his university documents, the authorities will file a legal suit against him.

“We will not surrender our capital city to frauds. We will involve all international agencies in investigating and prosecuting anyone involved in academic fraud,” said Kinoti.

Sakaja’s bid for Nairobi Governor has been in jeopardy since four petitions were lodged with the IEBC Dispute Resolution Committee, questioning the integrity of the academic papers he submitted for clearance.

His lawyers sought for the dismissal of cases where the complainants were not present in court during the hearing.

Three of the four complaints filed against the senator were dismissed.

Evans Kaita, Alex Abere, and Elizabeth Nzisa, asked the Committee to deny Sakaja’s permission to run for Nairobi governor because he lacked the necessary academic qualifications.

A letter from the Commission For University Education rescinding Sakaja’s degree was also invalidated by the Disputes committee.

CUE’s decision to cancel Sakaja’s degree was also halted by the High Court in a Judicial Review proceeding.

The court ordered CUE to maintain the validity of Sakaja’s degree pending further instructions from the court.

The court also prevented the IEBC from removing Sakaja’s name from the list of candidates cleared to run for governor.
