If You Won’t Vote for Me, Vote for Raila – Wajackoyah

Roots Party presidential candidate Prof George Wajackoyah has endorsed Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance, saying that they might collaborate after the August polls.

Speaking in Kisumu, Wajackoyah urged the electorate who do not support his bid to consider voting for the former prime minister.

The presidential hopeful despite lagging behind the two front-runners, has been viewed as a third force.

“I have roots in Luo community and we must respect Raila. If you can vote for me they you would rather vote for Odinga,” he said.

“I am a neighbour here and as you know, I am in the race with Baba. A victory for either of us will be a win for the Western region.”

The presidential candidate took a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto, criticizing his political stances and asserting that Raila had a better chance of transforming the country.

“Some people come here and insults Baba as that Kitendawili man where they were when he was in prison,” he said in reference to Ruto.

Wajackoyah, on the other hand, criticized Raila for obstructing party democracy in the Orange Democratic Movement by deciding to award his relatives seats in the party rather than letting Kenyans compete democratically for the posts.

“Baba should allow other people in elective positions; he should not be selfish. He cannot have his family members contesting as Members of the National Assembly, senators, Woman Reps and other positions. I told my brothers not to contest for any seat,” he added.

Should he clinch the presidency in the August elections, Wajackoyah reaffirmed that his administration will reinstate the death sentence, ostensibly to combat rampant corruption in the nation.

The controversial presidential candidate emphasized that those found guilty of corruption will be hanged as punishment in order to teach others who steal from the public coffers a lesson.

“As Kenyans we need to protect our resources and my administration will not spare anyone in that pursuit,” he said.

Wajackoyah, whose presidential campaign has been predicated on the country’s legalization of marijuana, criticized the way that parties involved in corruption cases continue to craft court proceedings to drag on for years in order to thwart justice.

“Even corrupt Judges will not be spared by my administration in the fight against corruption,” he said.

He said it is sad that those responsible for the mega scandals are never held accountable.

Prior to the crucial August elections, corruption and the nation’s economic recovery continue to be at the top of presidential candidates’ campaign agenda.
