CS Wamalwa Wants DP Ruto To Desist From Provoking Him with Insults

Cabinet secretary for Defence Eugene Wamalwa is now requesting that deputy president William Ruto refrains from further insulting him.

The minister on Wednesday asked the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) flagbearer to instead focus on advancing his agenda.

When the DP visits Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties, Wamalwa said, he criticizes him and fails to sell the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.

“I respect the DP and I have never insulted him and I do not understand why he is provoking me to take such a stand,” he said.

The former Devolution CS was reacting to remarks made by the second in command on Tuesday in Trans Nzoia.

The DP said the community from which he hails does not hit women, in an apparent reference to Wamalwa.

“In our community, we do not slap women, we respect them,” said Dr Ruto.

He also averred that were it not for him, the minister would be jobless.

“Mwambie huyo mjamaa awache kuongea mingi, bila mimi angekuwa anatembea kwa barabara, mimi ndiye nilimtoa kwa mtaro na nikampatia kazi ya waziri. Serikali mimi ndiye niliunda na Uhuru Kenyatta huyo jamaa alikuwa anahangaika kwa barabara, unaongea kama nani? Bure kabisa,” he said.

Loosely translates to: “Tell that man to stop going wild, if it wasn’t for me he would be roaming the streets. I am the one who brought him and gave him the ministerial job because I formed Jubilee with President Kenyatta, otherwise he would be nowhere. Who is talking as?”

The DP was on his part responding to Wamalwa’s claims that he almost smacked him back in 2018.

The minister who is affiliated with the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party, made the allegations last Friday in Kakamega.

He alleged that Ruto was irate after he (Wamalwa) led a Western Kenya delegation to State House.

According to the minister, the UDA party leader demanded that he resign for declining to consult him before holding the function at the House on the hill.

“I want to tell you today, that even I Eugene Wamalwa your son, I almost got slapped by that guy. He told me to get out of his government and hand to me a resignation letter the following day,” he said.

The minister has also revealed that Dr Ruto did not support his appointment to the cabinet.

“The DP did not witness my swearing-in, after opposing the appointment, so let him stop cheating Luhyas,” he said.

He added: “When I was appointed as CS for Water and Irrigation, DP Ruto demanded that the docket be hived off, and I was only allocated the ministry after irrigation and the money transferred to the CS Treasury.”
