On Wednesday, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered for the arrest of the legislator.

Haji said he wanted Barasa apprehended in order to record a statement, and have the relevant file availed to the DPP’s office for action.

Earlier reports indicated that the lawmaker could have fled to the neighbouring Uganda.

A police incident report states that Brian Khaemba, Barasa’s arch-rival, arrived at the Chebukwabi polling station to observe the vote-counting with the assistance of his security guard. Here, he ran into Barasa.

But as he was walking away, the MP pursued him and yelled at him to turn around.

According to the police, Barasa pulled out a gun and pointed it at Khaemba’s assistant, who is now deceased.

Olunga died from his injuries while receiving treatment at the Kimilili sub-county hospital.
