His lawyer, John Khaminwa said: “Take notice today that Messrs Khaminwa and Khaminwa advocates have filed an application on behalf of Barasa for bail pending arrest.”

“As soon as the application is heard and appropriate orders are made, you will be advised accordingly.”

The legislator was grilled by sleuths from Bungoma and Nairobi for close to six hours.

At around 5.20pm on Friday, Barasa was taken from the station in a police car and driven on the Bungoma-Kakamega road.

“He surrendered at the station at about 10.30am after we appealed to him to come out of his hideout. He is safe but I cannot tell you where he will spend the night at the moment just know he is safe and the probing is still going on,” Bungoma police boss Francis Kooli told the Standard.

His lawyer also stated that he was unaware of the legislator’s whereabouts.

“They (police) are yet to tell where they have taken him. I will let you know when I hear from them,” Khaminwa told the daily.
