Johnson Sakaja has been sworn in as Nairobi county’s fourth governor.

Sakaja was sworn in alongside his deputy, Njoroge Muchiri at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Thursday.

Sakaja’s campaign was filled with controversy surrounding claims that he lacked a degree.

For candidates running for governor, a degree is a mandatory.

Ruto claimed that despite the numerous obstacles Sakaja encountered, he won the election.

Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) director general Major General Mohamed Badi also assured Sakaja that he will handover four key devolved functions back to the county starting next week.
