Governor Kawira Defends Husband’s Appointment to Cabinet

Kawira Mwangaza, the governor of Meru, has responded to those who have questioned her decision to award her husband Murega Baicu two positions in her government.

Through her Facebook page, Kawira said that she would not have succeeded in becoming governor without the support of her husband who is also the founder of Baite TV.

“To many that see you wanaona “jamaa wa makofia” what they forget is that without you there would be no “Governor ni Mama” in Meru county,” she said.

She stated that it was only her singer husband that believed in her during the campaign period.

“You the only person that believed in me when no politician would stand by me and campaign for me. Through your talent I was able to hold campaign rallies and visit home to home,” she said.

The first term county chief added: “Through your belief and unequivocal support, I became the best woman rep in whole of Kenya.”

On Friday, the former Meru Woman Representative named her husband the patron of the Youth Service.

Murega’s position will not be paid or compensated, said Kawira during the unveiling of her cabinet.
