Kikuyu MP Ichung’wa Named National Assembly Majority Leader

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has announced Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa as the majority leader.

In his ruling on the leadership of the House, the former Bungoma senator noted that the President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza Alliance is the majority party.

The Speaker, on Thursday said, the Kenya Kwanza alliance had 179 members including those from UDM, PAA and MDG parties.

Azimio, on the other hand, has 157 members, Wetangula ruled.

Ichung’wa will be deputized by Kilifi North MP Owen Baya. Taking over as majority whip is South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro who will be deputized by Marsabit Woman Representative Naomi Waqo.

As for Azimio, the minority leader will be Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi who will be deputised by Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed will take up the minority whip position with nominated MP Sabina Chege as his deputy.
