Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana Quits Elective Politics

Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has quit elective politics.

Taking to social media, the former county boss thanked his colleagues, students and his constituents after 30 years of service.

“Today I announced that I have quit elective politics after serving the people of Makueni Constituency (2002-07) & Makueni County (2013-22), and 30 years of other public service. Thanks be to God, my former students, co-workers, & those I served,” he said.

This comes months after he ditched the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party for President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

In August, Kibwana joined the ruling alliance and was part of the legal team that represented the president at the Supreme Court as he defended his win.

“We associate with the leadership that Prof.@governorkibwana has manifested in agreeing to work with us in furthering our country’s development agenda. The Makueni Governor will join the Kenya Kwanza legal team in the ongoing presidential election petition,” tweeted the president.

Kibwana had served Makueni residents for two terms as the governor and launched his senatorial bid to replace Mutula Kilonzo.

He flopped the senatorial seat and lost to Wiper party’s Dan Maanzo.

The outgoing governor was vying on the Muungano Party ticket.
