Nairobi Jubilee Delegates Want Party to Leave Azimio in 14 Days

Nairobi Jubilee party delegates want the party to leave the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party.

Speaking in Nairobi, Nairobi branch chairperson Mark Ndung’u said the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party had been sidelined in critical parliamentary appointments by ODM.

Mr Ndung’u alleged that the Raila Odinga-led outfit had sidelined the former ruling party despite the two being equal partners.

The delegates protested the move by ODM to remove Sirisia MP John Waluke from the list of Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) nominees.

The party had endorsed Waluke who at the time was in jail for defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) of Sh297 million.

In addition, the delegates claimed that agents who took part in the recent general election have yet to receive their compensation.

It is said the funds were embezzled by high ranking members of the Azimio coalition, hence Raila’s loss in the polls.

“We need some clarity on the payments meant for agents under the Azimio coalition, the funds didn’t reach those meant to receive them,” he added.

The delegates also accused the coalition leaders of concealing vital details about the coalition agreement signed earlier this year.

As a result, they want the former ruling party to bolt out of the coalition party in 14 days.

“We have collected over 10,000 signatures and we want to ensure that we leave Azimio in 14 days,” added Mr Ndung’u.

As for the “people’s consultative forums” that kicked off last week, the delegates said Nairobi members will not be participating.

He asserted that the forums meant to protest against the Dr Ruto-led regime were ill-advised and will only destabilize the country further.

“We’ve had enough of your protests, which are self-serving and only serve to benefit one person. Our time with you is over. We will not accept protests and wars,” he said.

Mr Ndung’u urged the Raila-led camp to give Dr Ruto more time to deliver on its campaign promises.

The head of state has been in power for 91 days.
