It is Time to Move On – Wamatangi Tells Azimio After Fresh Rigging Claims

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has downplayed claims made by Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni that Raila Odinga won the general election on August 9, 2022.

According to the data allegedly obtained from an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official whose identity remained anonymous, Raila defeated William Ruto by garnering 8,170,355 votes to 5,919,973.

Governor Wamatangi, speaking to Citizen TV, claimed that the Supreme Court had already upheld Ruto’s victory and that the nation should move on.

“The Supreme Court made a decision based on all the evidence that was produced before it by both parties and they upheld that was was pronounced in Bomas was indeed what the will of the people of Kenya,” the county boss said.

Instead of what he called “throwing spanners at the Kenya Kwanza government’s works”, Wamatangi asked Azimio coalition members to concentrate on overseeing government operations as the official opposition party.

“All these stories about dossiers is what just happens most of the time when you have an election loser, unfortunately. Once you have lost fairly, get to work and settle down…Raila Odinga should let the government work, lead the opposition and do the work of oversight,” he added.

Further, the former senator stated that the stunts being pulled by the opposition are only meant to have them remain relevant.

“In this country it has become a fashionable fall back plan that to remain relevant, you try and throw all manner of spanners in the works as the elected group gets into work. The smoke that comes out of it now becomes out of it becomes the talk,” he added.

Kioni on Wednesday said the revelations as contained in the dossier were “sad and shocking”.

“We now know that Ruto did not win the August poll and there is enough evidence to prove this. We will analyse the document and provide a summary and way forward to our supporters when Raila jets back from South Africa,” he said.

According to the anonymous individual, illegal entities were created at the IEBC transmission centre’s back end office to change forms 34B from their original Jpeg form to PDF.

“This is questionable as the KIEMS kits that were used to transmit the forms from the polling centres did not have the capacity to change any file from its original jpeg form to any other form,” the whistleblower says.

The whistleblower also claims that more than 1,000 unregistered users whose IDs cannot be confirmed sent result forms from IP addresses outside the country.

They further assert that a total of 3,986 forms 34A were never received at the National Tally Centre between August 9 and 29.
