DP Gachagua Welcomes Lang’ata MP Jalang’o to the Gov’t

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed ODM elected MP Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o to the UDA camp.

Speaking on Monday during the groundbreaking of the Starehe Affordable Housing project, the DP recalled how the Lang’ata MP was thrown out of the Azimio Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting.

“Huyu Jalang’o ni wetu, baada ya kukutana na rais wetu William Ruto kule State House kwa mambo maendeleo, alifukuzwa kwa mkutano,” he said.

Loosely translates to: “Jalang’o is now in our camp because after meeting President William Ruto at State House on matters of development, he was chased from the Azimo meeting.”

Gachagua also urged Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi to join the government side because its focus is solely on development.

“I am so happy to see Beatrice Elachi, we want you with us, if I see you at the demonstrations I will be sad, we know you don’t know how to throw stones,” he said.

Jalas was last in February kicked out of a meeting attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga for holding talks with President William Ruto and Gachagua at State House.

The former radio host was among 10 ODM legislators who met with the UDA leaders.

The lawmakers were chided by the orange party, referring to them as “self-centered” and looking to undermine the party leader.

Later, Jalang’o told a local radio station that he would have still met with the head of state with or without his party leader’s go-ahead.

He, however, clarified that Raila had allowed him to meet with the government if development was the agenda.

“Raila has already given us a go-ahead on matters development, every party member has a key to discuss development, if I had to call him again in regards to State House call and he said no, I would still have gone,” he said.

“If I receive a call, I will of course ask the agenda of the meeting, if it’s development, I will go, if not, I won’t go.”
