Jubilee “Rebels” Attend Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group Meeting

Rebel Jubilee members on Tuesday attended a Kenya Kwanza Alliance Parliamentary Group meeting chaired by President William Ruto at the State House.

This is despite retired President Uhuru Kenyatta expelling at least 10 rebels from the former ruling party on Monday during a National Delegates Conference (NDC) held at the Ngong Race Course.

Jubilee legislators present included; Nominated MP Sabina Chege, Adan Keynan (Eldas), Kanini Kega (EALA MP), Fatma Dullo (Isiolo Senator), Yusuf Hassan (Kamukunji) among others.

On Sunday, Sabina who apparently is the acting Jubilee party leader, pledged allegiance to President Ruto.

Speaking in Isiolo, the former Murang’a Woman Rep pleaded with the head of state to accommodate “orphaned” Jubilee members.

“You have been our friend and we are the ones who have been left at Jubilee the party you helped co-found,” she said.

“We are orphans but I want to assure you that we are reviving the party that you left for us.”

Kanini on the other has assumed the role of Jubilee party secretary general and has threatened disciplinary action against Uhuru for calling an illegal NDC.

The former Kieni MP has insisted that the former President ceased to be the party leader and hence cannot summon an NDC.

“The participation by the said former officials in any Jubilee activities has no consequences, it is not binding on the party. We wish to inform our MCAs who have received communication from the former Secretary General to ignore such communication,” he said.

He added: “It is unfortunate that the former President has chosen to be on the wrong side of history by defying a legitimate decision of the party organ and more so he ceased being the party leader on 14th of March 2023 as per section 6 of the Presidential Retirements Benefits Act, he has no powers to call or chair any party meeting such impunity is unacceptable and illegal and it taints the office, the party will not shy against taking action against the former party leader.”
