Isiolo Governor Guyo Dumps Jubilee for UDA

Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo is the newest member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Guyo’s entry was officiated by the party’s  Secretary General Cleophas Malala on Friday.

“On behalf of my party leader, the President, I would like to welcome the governor to the party officially. He has joined with his deputy,” Malala said.

Also joining UDA was Isiolo Deputy Governor James Lowasa, County assembly Speaker Mohammed Roba Qoto and the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) chairman Hassan Galma among others.

Guyo who successfully vied for the gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee ticket in the 2022 general elections pledged to work with the government for the betterment of his constituents.

“I want to emphasize the need for unity and cooperation among party members to ensure the county’s progress under the leadership of President William Ruto,” he said.

Guyo’s decamping from the opposition comes two weeks after President William Ruto visited Isiolo for an interdenominational church service.

This was the head of state’s first visit to the region since he assumed office.

Then, the former MCA revealed that he secretly supported President Ruto’s presidential bid.

“Leo lazima tuambiliane ukweli, kuna watu walikusupport wa mchana na sisi tulikuwa wa usiku.. Mimi na wenzangu tulikuwa wa usiku,” Guyo said.

Loosely translates to: “Today we must tell each other the truth, there are people who supported you (Ruto) during the day and there are some of us who supported you at night.”

Of the 47 governors, Guyo was the only Jubilee elected county boss.
