At least nine United Nations staff and dependents have been detained in Ethiopia’s capital of Addis Ababa, a UN spokesperson told AFP.
“Some of them were taken from their homes,” one of the sources said.
A UN spokeswoman in Geneva said requests for their release had been submitted to the foreign ministry.
UN security officials have since visited the detained staff, the UN spokesperson told Reuters.
