Do Not Bring Wajackoyah to Mt Kenya – Gachagua Tells Azimio Leaders

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused Azimio La Umoja leaders of undermining his efforts to end drug and alcohol abuse in Central and the Upper Eastern regions of Kenya.

Speaking on Monday, the DP urged the opposition leaders to avoid bringing Root Party leader George Wajackoyah to Mt Kenya.

According to Gachagua, Wajackoyah is a bad influence since he advocates for the legalization of marijuana.

“Azimio leaders know we have a problem with alcohol and bhang and the person they are walking with is Wajackoyah. And he is the guest of honor in their meetings,” he said.

“What are we telling our children? This is a man who went on national television and said that bhang should not only be smoked, but encouraged people to grow it.

“When you come here, come and talk your things but don’t come with Wajackoyah. When you bring Wajackoyah to this region you are simply laughing at us.”

He stated that the opposition leaders also have a problem if they agree with someone who thinks marijuana is okay even if it is harming future generations.

“I want to ask our national leaders, to save us from this Wajackoyah thing. It is very embarrassing to keep company with such an individual,” Gachagua said.

Further, the former Mathira MP threatened to sack County Commissioners in ten days should they fail to shut down all illegal alcohol establishments.

“All the illegal establishments, within the 10 days, you must not only shut them down, but take those people to court.

“And if we find one in your area of jurisdiction, ‘aki ya Mungu utaenda nyumbani’. We have been told there are 2,800 illegal establishments and you must close them and take those people to court.

“Mkikula hongo ziendelee, hiyo hongo ndio utakula hadi ile siku utakufa. There will be no other income from the government, Gachagua said.
