Drama as CS Munya Clashes with Igembe South MP Mwirigi

A confrontation ensued at a ceremony held by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya in Igembe South, Meru County, on Saturday.

This occurred after Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi arrived with his supporters at the ceremony, which had already begun.

Munya utilized the occasion to remind the MP that he betrayed President Uhuru Kenyatta despite the Head of State handing him a vehicle as soon as he won the 2017 elections.

When Mwirigi was given the opportunity to speak, he sought to discount Munya’s remarks about betrayal and went on to say that he intends to continue in the UDA party.

He went on to say that he chose to work with Deputy President William Ruto because he helped him and his team when they needed it.

“I am going to vie for a second term in office on a UDA party ticket. That is my party and my Presidential candidate is William Samoei Ruto who will be elected on August 9, polls,” said Mwirigi.

Munya begged him to speed up his speech because he had already said enough.

Munya’s constant interjections, encouraging him to conclude his speech fast, seemed to annoy the MP.

His microphone was turned off for a few seconds in the middle of his speech, and when it was turned back on, he continued to speak despite an interjection from the CS.

“Maliza buana, sinimekupea nafasi ya kutosha. Sinimekupea nafasi na niko na mkutao ingine. Sasa unavunja mkutano yangu, si umalize!” exclaimed the former governor.

The MP eventually ran out of patience and confronted the CS, saying: “Lakini ujue sisi ndo to tumekuajiri kazi kama Members of Parliament.”

The comments were quickly disregarded by the CS.

“Mimi hamjaniajiri, hamuna kazi ya kuajiri mtu. Mnaniajiri kama nani? Mimi nimeandikwa kazi na Mwirigi kweli? Tuheshimiane bwana. Nikikupea nafasi salimiana” he said.

Meanwhile, Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi who is in the Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja movement has caused ripples on the internet after he was caught on tape asking the electorate to support a Ruto presidency.

“Where has Kiraitu ever forced people to support Raila? What I have said is that my wife and I will vote for Raila because there is democracy and freedom of choice which we fought for.

“If Ruto wins, he will disburse funds to Kiraitu Murungi as governor, if Raila wins, he will also give funds to Kiraitu, because I will be governor. so, at the top, select whoever you may please. Whoever you choose, it’s alright, as long as you choose Kiraitu as your governor.”
