Embu MCA-elect Dan Mbui Alleges Torture, Theft of Sh10,000 After Raid

An MCA-elect for Embu has claimed that his life is in danger.

MCA-elect for Evurori Ward, Dan Mbui, told reporters that unidentified individuals broke into his home in Kiathambu Village, Mbeere North Subcounty, in the wee hours of Monday morning.

Mr Mbui who was at the time in the company of his wife and two-year-old child, claimed to have been tortured.

According to the Ward Representative who is yet to take oath of office, the thugs trashed his home but only stole Sh10,000.

“They got angry after finding we only had 10,000 only and we promised to get more money from the business premise at Ishiara Market about 12 kilometres to save our lives,” he said.

The thugs, he said, then forced them into his vehicle.

“This looks like a well-coordinated activity since they first disconnected power,” he added.

Mbui requested an expedited and thorough police investigation, noting that several persons had been attacked in the area.

Mbui also noted that the well coordinated attack had something to do with political and business rivalry.

“It is also sad when some of my competitors jam the social media to claim that it was a stage-managed incident, how do you stage-manage a life-threatening incident with your family?” Mbui posed.

“It is very unfortunate that political rivalry can get to this far.”

Police are looking into the incident, according to Eric Yego, the commander of the Mbeere North Subcounty Police.

Lenny Masters Mwaniki, the minority leader in the second Assembly of Embu, has denounced the incident and urged the County security force to step up patrols.

“Let the local police enhance the patrols whether in towns or their rural homes,” he said.
