28-year-old Erick Karanja Seeking to Unseat Moses Kuria in Gatundu South

A 28-year-old man has tossed himself in the race to unseat Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

Erick Karanja will in the August polls contend for the parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.

According to Karanja, the deputy president William Ruto party is the only one that understands issues affecting the youth.

This he said as he expressed confidence that the “chief hustler’s” party will form the next government.

The youthful politician accused the previous leadership of failing to come up with economic models that address needs of the youth.

Should he clinch the seat for the first time, Karanja pledged to come up with projects that will not only create opportunities for the youth but ones that will also enhance economic stability in the area.

“We have a good road network yes and President Uhuru Kenyatta has done excellently well in this sector but our people are hungry, they need to feed. Being the main producer of fresh horticultural and poultry products, I will open up links that will see us become the main suppliers to our cities such as Nairobi,” he said.

Karanja is a Bachelors of Arts Degree graduate from Kenya Methodist University.

Others interested in the seat are; Njinji Murigi and Kiambu Deputy Governor Joyce Ngugi, businessman Kung’u Kibathi, lawyer Ngure Mbugua and KTDA director G.G Kagombe.

The incumbent who is currently in Dubai for medical reasons had earlier stated that he would not defend his seat.

Kuria who is expected back into the country on Saturday, February 19, said he would focus his energy on growing his party, Chama cha Kazi (CCM).

“I have decided, I will not vie for any political seat in the 2022 General Election,” he told Capital FM News back in August 2021, “I am focussed on building Chama Cha Kazi for the interest of Mt Kenya.”
