Wakoli’s win brings to an end sibling rivalry within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance to which Ford Kenya and UDA belong.

During the campaigns, Wetangula and Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi urged the electorate not to vote for a candidate from an apposing party.

“This seat belonged to Ford Kenya and since Mr Wetang’ula resigned to become the Speaker of the National Assembly, it’s only logical that a Ford Kenya candidate deserves to be elected as the senator for Bungoma,” said Mudavadi.
