Individuals serving in former governors Mike Sonko and Anne Kananu’s administrations have made the list of 128 looking to become chief officers.
They include: Halkano Waqo Dida who served as chief officer for Finance and ICT, and is former EACC boss Halake Waqo’s brother.
Also attempting a come back is Justus Kathenge who was the Urban planning chief officer and acting county secretary, Stephen Mutua CEC Finance, outgoing CEC Winnie Gathangu, who once served as CEC for Lands, Trade and Agriculture, and Patrick Akivanga, the Head of Urban Design and Outdoor Advertising.
Also making the list is Simon Leboo Morintat, who served as acting county secretary and chief officer for devolution.

Former members of the Nairobi County Assembly are also seeking to serve in the governor Johnson Sakaja-led administration.
According to the list from the County Public Service Board ( CPSB), ANC’s presidential campaign strategist Lynette Nyangweso and former UDA Dagoretti North aspirant Gabriel Chapia have also been shortlisted.
AFC Leopards’ former secretary General Oscar Igaida, former Minority leader and Embakasi MCA Michael Ogada, former Roysambu MCA Peter Warutere and Zimmerman’s Pius Mbona also made the list dated November 11.
Also making it to the list is former Nairobi Metropolitan Services director for Health Fredrick Ouma Oluga and City Hall’s former head of Security and Enforcement, Tito Kilonzi.

County Assembly committees will vet the shortlisted candidates between November 22 and November 29, 2022.
The positions were advertised last month. Eligible candidates were asked to submit their application forms online before or on October 19, 2022.
The county executive committee member is answerable to the county chief officers in their various dockets, who are the authorized individuals in the exercise of delegated power.
Their primary responsibilities include overseeing daily departmental operations and providing strategic policy direction for efficient service delivery within the departments to which they are assigned.

Chief officers are comparable to permanent secretaries, whereas county executive committee members are comparable to cabinet secretaries in the national government.
The county chief officer has the authority to assign a county public officer to a department.
