Gospel Singer Eko Dydda Interested in Mathare North MCA Seat

Gospel artist Eko Dydda has declared interest in the Mathare North MCA seat.

The musician told the Standard that he believes the timing is perfect for change in Mathare and that he is the right person to lead it.

“Leadership is like a God-given talent. You can’t really hide it. I have always had this burning desire to transform my hood, having lived here for many years.

“I know what needs to be done and I have a clear plan on how to achieve my objectives,” said the crooner.

When asked what he plans to do differently from his predecessors, the hitmaker stated that the challenges that the people of Mathare are suffering are obvious to all, and that they are tired of leaders who make empty promises.

On how he will use music to influence change, the father of two said that music is his passion and that he will utilize his gift to teach God’s word to bring balance in the world of politics.

“I believe I can do both. I echo God’s word and I would not drop music for anything. I am not joining politics to enrich myself. I want to serve.

“In fact, I will divide my term into quarterly plans and the people will see what I am capable of. I can even use my salary to improve the lives of the residents of Mathare North,” he said.

When asked if he belongs to a political party, Eko Dydda responded that he has not yet joined one, but that he will consult and determine what the best course of action is.

He did, however, warn against electing leaders based on the parties with which they identify, noting that it is the beliefs and programs that matter, not the parties.

He joins a long list of celebrities seeking elective posts in the upcoming general elections.

On Monday, Trace Radio host Njambi Koikai threw her hat in the ring for Dagoretti South parliamentary seat.

“Living in this community has shaped my values and the direction of my life. This has encouraged me to work for my community to improve the social and economic status of our people by working together,” she said.
