I Sold Multi-million Shilling Home for UDA – Ngirici

Kirinyaga Woman Rep Wangui Ngirici regrets pouring millions into the DP William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking in Kiamanyeki, Mwea constituency on Saturday, the county MP said her husband, Andrew Ngirici, sold their multi-million family home and injected the funds into the party.

Ngirici further told supporters that she was chased away from being the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) chairperson and various committees in the National Assembly for supporting the DP.

She has in the past accused the DP Ruto-led outfit of betrayal.

According to Ngirici, the party openly endorsed her rival and the sitting Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru.

“I sacrificed a lot for the UDA party but I was later shortchanged,” Ngirici said.

“Mambo ya kuchagua chama tuwache, let us think about individuals who will represent our interests.”

In December last year, Ngirici quit the party on grounds that its officials had advised her to go for the Mwea parliamentary seat instead, claims the party has refuted.

Party officials, she said, asked her to shelve her gubernatorial ambitions in favour of Waiguru.

“If they are telling you to vie for Mwea seat, do you think there will be fair nominations?” Ngirici posed.

“They received over Ksh200 million from local politicians to buy nomination tickets, do you think there will be fair nomination?”

In November, Ngirici told the Standard that she regretted investing her resources into the party.

“Only tricksters exist in the world of politics, loyalty is a mirage and ambiguous. I don’t even want to remember how much I have used to build the UDA party in Kirinyaga from scratch, but I’m young in politics and still learning,” she said.

The woman representative will go head to head in the August polls with Waiguru (UDA), first Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi (TSP), incumbent senator Charles Kibiru and NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua, among others.
