Kalonzo’s Chopper Develops Mechanical Problem in Narok

Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s helicopter developed a technical problem on Sunday.

The former vice president was on his way to Homa Bay for the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance rallies.

The problem occurred upon arrival in Suswa, Narok county, requiring him to exit the helicopter in order to get the issue resolved.

Kalonzo was supposed to be a part of the Azimio rally which set to take place in Oyugis, Homa Bay county.

Confirming the details was Andrew Sunkuli who had been named Kalonzo’s running mate before the latter withdrew from the race to support Raila Odinga.

“I am here now to represent and pass the greetings of the Wiper leader Kalonzo. He was on his way here but the chopper he was travelling in experienced a small problem. But he will catch up with us in the course of the day,” he said.

The Wiper party leader shared that he was on his way to Homa Bay minutes before 2pm.

He also confirmed that he experienced a technical problem.

“Off to join my brother Raila Odinga and the Azimio-One Kenya team in Homabay County after a technicality that forced us to land in Suswa and delayed for some hours. The Buffalo is ready,” he wrote on Facebook.

Dennis Kavisu, Kalonzo’s personal assistant, reported that the event happened when Kalonzo was traveling to Homa Bay to join former Prime Minister at a rally.

The Wiper leader, he said, was forced to camp out in Narok while awaiting another chopper to transport him to his destination.

The former vice president was later revealed to have been evacuated by a different chopper and was all set to attend upcoming Azimio rallies in Homa Bay.

His communications director Paloma Gatabaki mentioned that the pilots had discovered the issue prior to takeoff, preventing the Wiper leader from boarding the plane.

“You drive a car, there is always an issue with a car somewhere or the other. that is what happened with the chopper but they are on their way and are fine. It was headed in Homabay.

“His Excellency (Kalonzo) was not on the flight. He was where he was with his people. He is already in Homa Bay and he is fine,” Gatabaki said.
