Lonyangapuo, Absentee DG To Face Off for West Pokot Governor Seat

West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo is likely to face off with his deputy Nicholas Atundonyang for the county seat.

Dr Atundonyang who resides in the United States is said to be eyeing the governor’s seat on a Kanu ticket.

His boss formerly belonged to the Senator Gideon Moi led party but has since started his own party, Kenya United Party (KUP).

“I understand he has acquired a lot of money to come back and fight me. Let him come. I’m up to the task,” said the county boss on Wednesday.

He accused his neurosurgeon deputy of working with his opponents to fight him.

He also faulted Dr Atundonyang for drawing a huge salary but not working for it.

Dr Atundonyang left Kenya in 2018, a few months after taking oath of office.

“This has seen many health facilities equipped with modern medical equipment and medicine which has never been witnessed in any other county in Kenya,” he told People Daily.

He claimed that his boss has failed his people hence the reason why he is engaging in blame game.

“I will come back home soon. I’ve advised him a lot on many issues affecting the county but he does not listen  to anybody,” said Atundonyang.

Apart from Dr Atundonyang, Lonyangapuo has also fallen out with area senator Samuel Poghisio and County Assembly Speaker Catherine Mukenyang.
