Moses Kuria to Run for Kiambu Governor Seat

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria will run for the Kiambu County Governor seat in the upcoming August polls.

The political firebrand made the announcement on Saturday via social media on Saturday.

The Chama cha Kazi (CCK) party leader said, “The voice of the people is the voice of God. So help me God. Under your wings I feel safe.”

The legislator had earlier indicated that he was not going to run for elective office but was instead going to campaign for those in his party.

He will be battling it out for the seat with the incumbent James Nyoro, former Governors William Kabogo and Ferdinand Waititu, Wainaina Jungle.

Others are Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi, University lecturer Juliet Kimemia, Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu among others.

Kuria had in January disputed a poster that indicated that he was interested in the governorship.

The poster indicated that the lawmaker’was to be deputized by Biashara MCA Elijah Njoroge.

Njoroge had previously expressed interest in becoming Kiambu County Senator. The MCA agreed that the poster was legitimate.

“I do my announcements on my page,” Kuria told a local daily as he denounced the poster.

Kuria returned from Dubai on February 19 after spending 144 days at the American Hospital.
