MP Adagala Replaces Simon Gikuru As ANC Secretary General

The Amani National Congress (ANC) has replaced Simon Gikuru as the party’s secretary general.

He will be replaced by Vihiga County Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala in an acting capacity.

Gikuru congratulated his successor saying: “I take this early opportunity to congratulate Hon Beatrice Adagala for her appointment as the Acting Secretary General of the @anc_party. As your Predecessor be assured of my full support and a smooth transition. Congratulations!”

Acting ANC party leader Issa Timamy said Gikuru was interviewed for a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) job hence the changes.

“Our former Secretary General went for CAS interviews and you are required to resign. So we had Amani Council Bureau meeting in Lamu and resolve to appoint Adagala,” Timamy said.

On her part, Adagala said, “We had a meeting, with our leaders and we discussed a lot about our party. As SG I’d like to say the party is firm, what was being said is not there.”

She added: “We are in Kenya Kwanza fully supporting President William Ruto. Our plan is to seek Kenyans to leave the good life.”

This comes amid merger talks in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. ANC has maintained that it has no intention of folding but will support the President William Ruto-led administration.

“The leadership discussed among other issues the talk about merging. For the avoidance of doubt, ANC Party is not merging either today or in the future,” said ANC.

UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala who recently ditched ANC, has insisted that there is need to dissolve Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties before the 2027 polls.

“Issue of parties to fold is an ongoing discussion within Kenya Kwanza. It is a suggestion that has been brought about by our party UDA to ensure we have a strategy toward winning 2027 general elections,” said Malala.

“One of my mandates is to begin a dialogue with our partners so as to ensure we have one party against our opponents. We cannot have one government and several colours, that is our position and we shall talk to others.”
