MPs Sudi, Kositany Summoned by DCI Over Attack on Raila’s Helicopter

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss has summoned Soy MP Caleb Kositany, his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi and Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat over the mayhem observed at the funeral of late businessman Jackson Kibor.

According to the DCI, the commotion that erupted after the funeral at Kabenes village led to the damaging of Raila Odinga’s helicopter.

According to a statement made by the DCI on Saturday evening, early investigations revealed that the three reportedly orchestrated and coordinated the violence meted against the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate.

As a result, MPs Kositany, Sudi, and Speaker Kiplagat are scheduled to appear before the Rift Valley DCI chief on Sunday morning.

“At the closure of the ceremony, chaos erupted and stones including other projectiles were hurled at the former Prime Minister by incited youth,  maliciously damaging his helicopter’s windscreen,” read the statement.

“In view of the foregoing, the two legislators and County Assembly Speaker have pursuant to Section 52 of the National Police Service Act 2011, been summoned to appear in person before the Rift Valley DCI Regional Coordinator on April 3, 2022, at 9am, for further investigations into their involvement in the incident.”

Earlier today, Sudi publicly apologized to the AU envoy and claimed to have phoned both Junet Mohamed and Babu Owino over the incident.

“It was a mistake for which we regret and I have called them and apologized because what happened was unacceptable,” said Sudi.

Sudi also invited Raila to hold a rally in Eldoret, which he promised would be held in a peaceful manner.

Raila, the MP said, is a national leader who does not deserve such treatment.

Junet on Friday alleged that he and his party leader were attacked in Uasin Gishu as they made their way to Mzee Kibor’s burial.

Junet claimed that the incident happened while they were in the air. He also stated that they needed to find other mode of transportation.

Police have in custody fourteen suspects who were allegedly found with Sh50 notes.
