Nixon Korir, Chris Wamalwa Among Poll Losers Shortlisted for PS Jobs

Former Lang’ata MP Nixon Korir has been shortlisted for the position of Principal Secretaries by the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Korir is among the 477 individuals shortlisted for the positions.

Around 20 PSs from the Jubilee administration and members of President William Ruto’s economic advisory committee also made the list.

President Ruto’s economic team, which developed his bottom-up economic model, including Alfred Ombudo K’Ombudo and Dr Irene Asienga, have also been shortlisted for the prestigious positions.

Mr K’Ombudo, who has expertise in more than 14 African nations and has won numerous awards, advises African governments and provides solutions to the most difficult development difficulties.

He has designed and implemented ground-breaking economic development, trade, and investment projects through assignments at the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), East Africa Trade and Investment Hub, and International Trade Centre.

Dr Asienga on the other hand serves as a commissioner at the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA). She has more than 15 years of expertise in management, teaching, and research.

Dr Asienga has in the past held positions as Senior Lecturer and Director at the Nairobi Campus of Kabarak University.

She previously served as the Business School Dean and the Head of the Department of Commerce at the same university.

Korir and his Kiminini colleague Chris Wamalwa are among the poll losers and close allies of President Ruto who made the list.

Former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai who vied for the senatorial seat on UDA and lost to ODM’s Ledama Olekina has also been shortlisted.

Rehema Jaldesa and Ahmed Kolosh, two former lawmakers from Isiolo and Wajir West, have also made the list.

The list also includes Francis Meja, who lost during the UDA nominations for the Kajiado governor seat in April, and former Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairman Halakhe Waqo, who ran for the ODM nomination for the Isiolo gubernatorial seat but lost.

Veska Kangogo and the former Deputy Governor of Kericho, Lily Ngok, are also on the list.

Others include Prof. Edward Kisiang’ani, who has been a significant member of the head of state’s media team since the campaign, and Dr Korir Sing’oei, who has served as Dr Ruto’s legal counsel.

Dr Chris Kiptoo, Esther Koimett, Peter Kaberia, Belio Kipsang, Julius Jwan, Saitoti Torome, Francis Owino, Jerome Ochieng, Charles Hinga, Margaret Mwakimu, Nelson Marwa, and others are notable Principal Secretaries who served in the former regime.

Others who served in retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime include: Joseph Irungu, Ali Noor Ismail, Andrew Tuimur, Micah Powon, Simon Nabukwesi, and Sarah Ruto.

The late veteran politician Jakoyo Midiwo’s widow, Dr Rose Olayo Jakoroyo, is also among those who have been shortlisted, along with academicians Stephen Gaya Agong, VC of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, Dr Duncan Ojwang, Dean of the School of Law at Africa Nazarene University, and Prof Catherine Akinyi Muhoma, DVC of Administration and Finance at Maseno University.

Acting director general for health Dr Patrick Amoth will also be considered for the PS position.

Dr Wilson Aruasa, president and chief executive officer of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), Bernard Njiraini, managing director of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Prof Thomas Kipkurgat (Rivatex), Sammy Naporos (Kerio Valley Development Authority), Nixon Sigey (New KCC), Charles Ringera (Helb), and Prof Laban Ayiro (VC Daystar University) are the other prominent figures making the list of likely PS candidates.

Browne Kustwa (Communication PSC) and Bernard Ngugi (former Kenya Power boss) are also on the list.

Interviews will be conducted between October 12 to 22.
