Nominated MCA To Use Her Beauty To Spur Growth If Elected Embu Woman Rep

A nominated member of the county assembly of Embu has urged the people to avoid electing elderly candidates to the Woman Rep seat.

Margaret Lorna Kariuki who is eyeing the Woman Rep seat said previous candidates often deceived the people by using old photos on campaign posters.

Ms Kariuki claimed that the elderly women are unable to marshal any meaningful project funding due to their “frail physiques”.

The nominated MCA further alleged that counties that elected good-looking candidates have spurred growth in their areas.

“Development doesn’t just come your way. You have to elect a beautiful woman to attract development. Send me there (to the parliament) as your Woman Representative and I will develop the county since I’m very beautiful as you can all see, ” said Ms Kariuki.

She noted that an element of intelligence, beauty and flamboyance was important for a Woman Rep candidate especially for Embu as it has lagged behind as a result of electing lethargic ‘retirees’ to a seat that required energetic representatives.

The nominated ward rep also maintained that elderly Woman Reps cannot attract or maintain the attention of development partners while some scare away senior government officials who need to be wooed to extend development projects to the county.

She also promised that she would use a multipronged approach to appeal to both donor and government agencies to fund projects in the county.

Ms Kariuki also accused previous office holders of embezzling funds meant for senior citizens and people with disabilities.
