President Ruto Meets Jubilee Party Leaders Ahead of Azimio Rally

President William Ruto is currently holed up in a meeting with current and former members of the former ruling party, Jubilee.

Sources privy to the goings-on say Nominated MP Sabina Chege, EALA’s Kanini Kega, Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho, Irene Njoki (Bahati), Zachary Kwenya (Kinangop) and Dr Shadrack Mwiti (South Imenti), are in attendance.

Others are Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), Amos Mwago (Starehe), Daniel Karitho (Igembe Central), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West) and Lamu Senator Joseph Githuku.

The meeting comes hours before a planned Peoples Consultative Forum at the Kamukunji Grounds.

The opposition is set to discuss the findings of an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) insider.

Last week, former Ndaragwa MP and Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni said the a dossier presented to them by the whistleblower indicated that the election was bungled in favour of President Ruto.

According to Kioni, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party leader Raila Odinga who was contesting for the presidency for the fifth time, beat Ruto by garnering 8.1 million votes. Ruto apparently got 5.7 million votes.

During today’s meeting, the former prime minister who has been out of the country for the past week, is set to hold talks with the people over the whistleblower’s disclosures.

“The Rt Hon Raila Odinga returns to the country on Monday 23. He is expected to land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 11am. Upon arrival, he will proceed to the Kamukunji Grounds for a people’s baraza consultations with the public where they will discuss recent disclosures by a whistle blower on the conduct of the 2022 General Election.” read a statement from his spokesperson Dennis Onyango.

“Raila appeals to Kenyans to show up in large numbers at the Kamukunji Baraza in the interest of the country.”

On Friday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also held talks with the Jubilee members in a bid to woo them to them to the government side.

After the meeting, Kega who also doubles as the Jubilee director of elections, said Mt Kenya leaders should work together for the benefit of the people.

“The election is over. Eighty percent of our people voted for Kenya Kwanza. Leaders must take advantage of the current administration to the benefit of the people,” said the former Kieni MP.

He added: “Siasa usiweke kwa ROHO! HE Riggy G the Deputy President Hosted us today and we had a good day discussing development issues.”

The opposition will hold the forum shortly after Raila jets back on Monday afternoon.
