Protests in Makueni After DP Ruto’s Sh2 Million Donation Vanishes

Makueni county residents have cried foul after deputy president William Ruto’s campaign coordinators allegedly disappeared with a Sh2 million donation.

The irate residents staged protests on Monday as they demanded for the money which they argued belonged to the mama mboga and bodaboda riders.

“We have been running up and down for three days looking for the money DP Ruto gave out. So you (Ruto) you gave us these people as directors and coordinators but they are thieves and selfish people who are out to benefit themselves with our money,” a protester told reporters.

Another intimated: “There are conmen hiding in UDA. They are lying to us that the money was taken to the police station and we know very well that is not true.”

It has been said that the money was given to one Kennedy Mutysia who gave some of the money to a couple of individuals and threw a few notes in the air.

The protesters reckoned that the notes in the air were a way for Mutysia to vanish with the larger portion of the donation.

They also chastised DP Ruto’s campaign coordinator for creating chaos and painting them in bad light.

“The people of Makueni are ready to welcome any political aspirant here. We won’t be used and forced to chase away aspirants so that we be viewed as people with no political direction,” another protester said.

Money donated by the DP has previously vanished in Kakamega, Murang’a, Meru, Mombasa among others.
