Rebel ODM MPs To Fight Expulsion in Court

MPs from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party who were expelled say they challenge the move in court.

Speaking on Sunday in Migori county, Suba South legislator Caroli Omondi said he was lobbying for development projects when he met President William Ruto.

“Hakuna makosa tumefanya kama mimi to go and lobby for Suba people to get a road and we must speak the truth and I am emphasizing here that if we go to court we are going to win,” Omondi said.

“I am a lawyer and I assure you we are going to win let me tell you why there was not tribunal that tried us are we together that is why I am saying this thing is going to embarrass the party.”

On his part, Uriri MP Mark Nyamita accused the party’s disciplinary committee of bias claiming that the National Executive Council recommendation to oust them from the party was selfish.

“If the chairman anyway is on record declaring interest in the seat of Caroli then he is the very person that is sitting in the committee to judge us then what really do you expect so really let us be fair,” he said.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula called on party leaders to allow their members to serve the electorate and put aside selfish interests.

“If it is good for the party leader of a certain party to go to Mombasa and talk to the president about the welfare of the people of Kenya, then what is wrong if Nyamita goes to see the president to talk about Uriri?” Wetangula posed.
