Resign and Go- Raila Tells “Traitors” who Met President Ruto

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has told lawmakers who met President William Ruto at the State House on Tuesday to resign.

Speaking on Thursday during an Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party Parliamentary Group meeting in Machakos, the former prime minister said the legislators mainly from his home turf, Nyanza, are traitors.

Among those who held talks with the head of state and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, was Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o.

Jalang’o defended the meeting saying development was the topic of discussion.

But according to Raila, members of Parliament do not need to beg for development projects. He explained that MPs formulate laws and are responsible for revenue allocation.

He urged the Azimio MPs to remain committed to their fight for justice and to forego using development as a cover up.

“The Members of Parliament who defected need to resign and go, and seek a fresh mandate from the electorate,” he said.

“Very cheap, unprincipled for a political party to say after the election you are now resigning and going to join the coalition that you ran against. That is political prostitution.”

Jalang’o was kicked out of the Azimio meeting but maintained that he will not apologize for dialoguing with the President especially on matters development.

“I will not apologize for meeting the President. I’m still a member of the Azimio and ODM. This is politics,” he said.

Also meeting the UDA leaders alongside the first time MP were; Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East, Independent) Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Paul Abuor (Rongo), John Owino (Awendo) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.
