Rigathi Claims Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui is Late President Moi’s Son

Rigathi Gachagua, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential running mate, has asserted that late President Daniel Arap Moi is Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s biological father.

Speaking in Molo, Nakuru county on Friday, the Mathira MP defended himself by stating that, in contrast to assertions made by some leaders that he was the DO when riots in Molo occurred in the 1990s, he has never worked in the area.

The legislator said that the county chief should render an apology to the people of Molo since his father was the head of state at the time.

He went on to say that he did nothing wrong and will not apologize.

“I can’t apologise because we did nothing wrong. It’s you Lee Kinyanjui who must apologise for the crimes perpetrated by your father who served as president and commander-in-chief when Molo residents suffered,” said the outgoing lawmaker.

Rigathi made the allegations after the county boss demanded that he apologizes to Molo residents.

In a statement on June 21, Kinyanjui had claimed that survivors of Rigathi’s time as a district officer in Molo had asked him for an apology, among other things.

“During the tour, several suggestions have been raised by members of the public. Your kind consideration will be greatly appreciated. The first is a ‘public apology’ to the people of Molo for the commissions and omissions during his tenure as the dreaded DO,” he said.

“You can take the opportunity to assure them that you have since changed. This is a modest request from the survivors.”

Additionally, he mocked Rigathi by claiming that the Union of Nakuru University Students had asked him to give a keynote speech on establishing good government and putting Chapter Six of the Constitution into practice.

The MP also told Kinyanjui who is defending his seat on a Jubilee ticket, to get ready to go home for failing the electorate during his tenure.

“Tell them why you did not repair or make new roads. Tell them why you did not get them water and why they did not receive bursaries,” he added.

According to the Kenya Kwanza presidential running mate, Kinyanjui was preoccupied with the ODM leader Raila Odinga’s political aspirations over that of his constituents.

He urged the people to support Senator Susan Kihika in the August polls, as he exuded confidence that she would prevail.

The Mathira MP cautioned Governor Lee against instilling fear in voters that there will be post-election violence.

He declared that neither Nakuru nor Rongai will experience any form of violence.

“Hakuna mtu atapigana.. Tutapiga kura ya amani na kila mtu atakaa na amani,” he said.

This loosely translates to, “No one will fight. We will have peaceful elections and everyone will live in peace.”
