SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri Declares Interest in Kasarani MP Seat

Ronald Karauri, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of betting firm SportPesa, has announced that he will run for the Kasarani parliamentary seat.

On Wednesday, Karauri formally proclaimed his candidacy at a gathering at the Kasarani Health Centre. He told the electorate that he had what it takes to lead them.

“In the course of the work that we have been doing in the community, both in sports and maternal health, many people have approached me to represent them so that we can make change together. Today, I declare that I will be in the race as their next MP in Kasarani,” he said.

The former Kenya Airways pilot, on the other hand, has not stated which political party he will run under.

If elected in August, he told locals that he will improve the Constituency which is currently being led by Mercy Gakuya.

Gakuya won the 2017 elections on a Jubilee ticket trouncing her closest rival, ODM’s Steven Paul Owino who garnered 17,083 votes. John Njoroge Chege came in third with 15,548 votes.

“I can say, here and today, that together we will change the face of Kasarani Constituency,” added Karauri.

He stated that the people of Kasarani, as well as Kenya as a whole, want great leadership to advocate for issues such as healthcare, youth employment, and, particularly, sports as a method of young employment.

“Na Chama ntawapeleka rieng ila cha msingi…Deadline ni 6th Feb. Chezeni ki nyinyi. Sitawangusha,” said Prezzo.
