Trump Attacks President Biden Over FBI Raid in Florida

Former US President Donald Trump has referred President Joe Biden as a “enemy of the state” following the FBI raid of his Florida estate for sensitive documents.

Speaking to his supporters in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the former president charged Mr Biden with using the FBI as a weapon against him.

According to Mr Trump, the raid was “one of the most horrific abuses of authority by any administration in American history.”

He was there to support two Republicans running for office.

Dr Mehmet Oz is a candidate for the US Senate, and state senator Doug Mastriano is vying to be the next governor of Pennsylvania.

During the first hour and a half of his nearly two-hour speech, Mr Trump, criticized the FBI investigation. He then turned to more established topics, including his erroneous claims that the 2020 election was rigged against him, criticism of Democratic Party rivals, and pledges to “save our country.”

He advocated several times for the death sentence to be applied to narcotics dealers.

A legal dispute between the former president and federal authorities is ongoing around a collection of secret documents that the FBI seized last month.

The Mar-a-Lago club in Florida is where Mr Trump is said to have inappropriately taken and retained White House documents, including some labelled “top secret.”

He may have impeded the investigation into his possession of the materials, according to federal authorities.

“It was not just my home that was raided… it was the hopes and dreams of every citizen who I’ve been fighting for since the moment I came down the golden escalator in 2015, wanting to represent the people,” said the former head of state.

The November midterm elections, which Trump framed as “a referendum on the corruption and extremism of Biden and the extreme Democrat party,” were the main subject of his speech.

After criticizing Democratic Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman for around 70 minutes, who he referred to as a “spoiled and entitled socialist loser,” Trump eventually attacked Oz’s opponent.

“John Fetterman is the most dangerous Democrat seeking to join Congress this year and one of the most fringe far-left freak shows ever to seek election in any state,” Trump said.

“More and more lies from Trump and Dr. Oz,” Fetterman’s campaign said in a response.

Biden visited Pennsylvania twice last week and is due back on Labor Day. On Tuesday, he made a stop in Wilkes-Barre.

Biden beat Trump by 80,555 votes in Pennsylvania in 2020 after Trump carried the commonwealth by 44,292 votes in the 2016 election.
