UDA Wants ODM Disqualified from 2022 Elections Over Kondele Chaos

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party wants the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party disqualified from next year’s polls.

UDA chairman Johnson Muthama said the chaos witnessed in Kondele, Kisumu during DP William Ruto’s tour was evidence that the government had abandoned its mandate to protect its people.

“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should take action and discipline the ODM party by even disqualifying them from participating in the coming general election,” said the former Machakos senator.

He also faulted the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for remaining mum on the matter.

“It’s a day that reminded peace loving Kenyans that the dark days of “Kanu zones” when opposition political parties were barred from campaigning in some parts of the country have never really gone away,” he added.

While dismissing a statement released by Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso indicating that the DP was aware of the tension in Kondele, Muthama wondered what the law enforcers did to prevent the stone throwing incident.

“The question that police should answer is when did they know of the chaos and what did they do about it to ensure the stoning does not happen and it is stopped?” posed Muthama.
