Wa Iria: I Know Who Blocked My Presidential Bid

Governor Mwangi wa Iria of Murang’a is aware of those behind his flopped presidential bid and it was not Raila Odinga.

The governor remarked that only Raila was concerned enough to get in touch with him to find out what was going on.

Speaking on Saturday, Wa Iria said that Kenya Kwanza, the opposing side, was responsible for his persecution because they wanted to keep control of the political situation in the Mt Kenya region.

Additionally, he accused Wafula Chebukati, chair of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), of conspiring with some people to cause problems.

“I found out that people slaughtered goats and celebrated when I was stopped from vying. Chebukati colluded with people who have been thinking that Mt. Kenya region is their zone. They met and said if I vied, I would jeopardize their bid,” he said.

He added: “They want to use Murang’a people like tissue paper. They had to curtail me so that an individual can get his way. Whoever did it is not Raila.

“They will do the same thing to the people of Murang’a if they are elected. They did just like King Herod did when he ordered the execution of all sons to preserve his rule. They want to be worshipped.”

On Saturday, the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance leaders officially welcomed Governor Wa Iria into the fold.

The outgoing county boss declared his support for Raila on Tuesday.

According to the outgoing county boss, Raila consented to incorporate the Azimio manifesto into his Usawa manifesto.

If Azimio leads the next administration, Wa Iria and Raila declared that they will carry out his one cow, one household policy.

“I told Raila that if we combined his Sh6,000 pledge and my cow programme then we will take Kenyan families above the poverty line. I told him that those have to be in our joint manifesto and we did a deal. He stated that will happen,” he said.

“Through that joined manifesto, Usawa Kwa Wote will support the candidature of Raila. My supporters will now rally behind Raila Odinga.”

The governor also made it clear that, should Raila win the election on August 9, he will demand for a cabinet slot.

“If I get to the Cabinet, I will implement all the programmes because I have the knowledge. The people of Murang’a should therefore rally behind me and we shall demand that Raila gives me a cabinet position,” he stated.

The Murang’a governor disclosed that Raila was the only person who contacted him following the IEBC’s “injustice” in excluding him from the presidential contest.

He made the choice to support Raila and join the Azimio during their three-hour conversation.

“Raila Odinga engaged me in 3 hour discussion and we talked man to man with mzee. He was the only person who admitted to me that injustice was committed,” he continued.

IEBC disqualified him from running for president in May.
