Wamatangi Not Campaigning for DP Ruto’s Presidential Bid – Moses Kuria

The infighting within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance took another twist as Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria hit out at Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi.

The Chama cha Kazi (CCK) leader hit out at the senator for putting his interests above those of the alliance.

Kuria alleged that the UDA gubernatorial candidate was out to popularize his bid and never once urged the people to vote for Deputy President William Ruto on August 9.

“This earth is hard. I have been on the campaign trail with Sen Kimani wa Matangi for 11 hours today. Not once did he ask people to vote for William Ruto,” complained the firebrand.

Kuria who is also eyeing the governorship told the electorate that unlike Wamatangi, he is a selfless leader who lost his position in the House as the latter remained silent.

Wamatangi who is the immediate former majority whip in the senate only ditched President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee for UDA in March.

Kuria and others who jumped ship ages ago lost their committee memberships as the head of state sought to close ranks.

The senator who was present could not respond to the claims as Kuria’s supporters rented the air with pro-Kuria chants.

This comes weeks after Wamatangi exchanged salvos with Tujibebe’s William Kabogo.

Kabogo who is also seeking to serve the Kiambu people for a second term, has since left the alliance.

Earlier on this week, Kuria accused the DP Ruto-led outfit of scheming against him.

He asserted that the party had put campaigns on hold in order to determine how they could improve the chances of its governor candidate.

“This game is becoming interesting. The entire UDA brigade in Kiambu County has suspended their campaigns in 12 constituencies to shore up Wamatangi’s faltering campaigns and fight one Moses Kuria, not Azimio,” he complained.

A fortnight ago, the legislator accused UDA of playing politics of conmanship against their Kenya Kwanza coalition partners.

Kuria claimed the Ruto-led outfit was sidelining other parties within the alliance in the planning of campaigns within Mt Kenya region.

“When it comes to events in Mt Kenya, organisation meetings are held exclusively by UDA and we are thrown out. For me its sad and strange. to make matters worse, aspirants from UDA are warned from associating with me or Governor Kabogo which truly is against the spirit of the alliance,” Kuria told Citizen TV.

He added, “We find this to be dishonest and I find it to be when we talk about the politic of deceit and conmanship which made us run away from Jubilee, I find this more exemplified by what is happening against us in Mt Kenya region as opposed to what we are fighting Jubilee about.”
