Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has made various safety demands of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja ahead of planned protests on March 20.
Sifuna asked Sakaja to concentrate on preparing the city for visitors who will take to the streets owing to the high cost of living among others.
“We want clean public toilets, drinkable water in the CBD, ambulances and medical facilities on standby, traffic marshals to guide traffic and protect the visitors etc,” he tweeted.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Thursday declared that the start of mass action and peaceful protests on March 20.
In a new campaign dubbed Movement for Defence of Democracy, the leader of the Azimio party and his staff outlined 15 reasons why Ruto should resign as president.
He listed high cost of living, excessive taxes, the importation of GMOs, the ongoing reconstitution of the IEBC, electoral fraud, victimization of four IEBC commissioners, improper handling of the Azimio presidential petition by the supreme court, and state capture of other branches of government.
Others included land grabbing, unwarranted expansion of the executive arm of government, religious discrimination, targeted civil servant firings, and tribalism.
“The attempt by Kenya Kwanza regime to singlehandedly reconstitute the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission by forming a William Ruto Electoral Commission is a reckless misadventure that is intended to wreck this country,” Raila said.
He referred to the IEBC selection committee as a puppet that the President intended to employ “to gain an unwarranted advantage in the 2027 national elections.”
