You Will Lose Lang’ata Seat in 2027 if You Quit ODM – Sifuna Tells Jalang’o

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has advised Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o against leaving the ODM party.

Speaking to Radio 47 on Tuesday, the ODM secretary general said the former Kiss FM presenter will lose the seat in 2027 should he quit the party.

“I want to advise my friend Jalang’o that those telling him to quit ODM are misleading him since he cannot secure a re-election in Lang’ata on any other ticket apart from ODM,” he said.

Sifuna said Jalang’o only won the Parliamentary seat because he vied on an ODM ticket.

“Jalang’o was known as a radio presenter. It was the ODM ticket that made people see him as a politician, not a journalist. So he cannot just say he will vie with whichever party,” he said.

“I have told Jalang’o that even if he survives using a court order until 2027 he will not get the Lang’ata MP seat again.”

Last week, the Raila Odinga-led movement expelled five legislators over gross misconduct and defying party position.

Among those who were expelled from the party include; MPs Jalang’o,  Caroli Omondi (Suba South)  Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.

Also shown the door were nominated MCAs from Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori.

Jalang’o has, however, stated that he will only quit the party if given marching orders by Raila.

“Chama ni ya Raila Amollo Odinga na kama sijapata habari kutoka kwa Raila mimi ni mwana ODM… Mbunge wa Lang’ata hadi 2027 ni mimi Phelix Odiwuor Jalang’o. Nataka uchukue hii habari ninakuambia upeleke benki wakukope pesa kwa sababu ndio ukweli. Hakuna mabadiliko yoyote,” Jalang’o said.

Loosely translates to: “The party belongs to Raila Amollo Odinga and if I have not received communication from him. I am an ODM member… The Lang’ata MP until 2027 is Phelix Odiwuor Jalang’o. Take this to the bank because it is the truth. No changes have been made.”
