Eseli, Wamunyinyi Leave Ford-Kenya, To Unveil Political Party on December 14

Tongaren Member of Parliament Eseli Simiyu and his Kanduyi counterpart Wafula Wamunyinyi have exited the Ford-Kenya party.

The duo on Thursday said they will unveil a “new vehicle” on December 14. They will use the yet to be launched outfit to defend their seats.

“We will unveil the new party during our NDC on December 14 and you will shortly know the details of the new outfit,” Wamunyinyi said.

The Kanduyi legislator said the infighting in the Moses Wetangula-led party was unhealthy as the country heads into the electioneering year.

Eseli and Wamunyinyi have been fighting to takeover the party from the Bungoma senator.

Wetangula allegedly interfered with the party’s 2017 nomination process that cost Ford Kenya parliamentary seats.

The presidential hopeful has also been faulted for failing to reconcile warring factions within his party.

On November 4, the Wetangula-led faction held a National Delegates Conference despite an order by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT).

Wetangula was endorsed by the delegates to run for the presidency on the Ford-Kenya ticket.

Wamunyinyi’s side dismissed the conference as an “illegality”.

“We are wondering why the Wetang’ula faction is holding the national delegates conference despite the court order,” Wamunyinyi said.
