Wanjigi Slams Uhuru Over State of Nation Address Full of “Fantasies”

Presidential hopeful and businessman Jimi Wanjigi has castigated President Uhuru Kenyatta over his State of the Nation address.

The president addressed a joint parliament sitting on Tuesday where he outlined his government’s successes.

Speaking on Sunday, Wanjigi who is mainly referred to as the “fixer” expressed his disappointment in the president’s address that took at least two hours.

Addressing ACK St Paul’s Karen West Parish worshippers, Wanjigi who is eyeing the ODM party presidential ticket, said he listened to the head of state’s speech in shock.

“I was in shock. I was wondering if I’m the one who lives in a different world or he lives in a different world,” he said.

“The reality is what he spoke that day was bonoko economics. Those were not truths.”

Wanjigi said the speech was full of “dreams and fantasies”.

“We want facts Mr President. Not dreams and fantasies,” he continued.

The address attracted mixed reactions from both sides of the political divide.

Those loyal to the retiring president said it gave Kenyans hope while those allied to Deputy President William Ruto asserted that he did not address the crucial issues.

Garissa Township MP Aden Duale told reporters that the speech should have addressed the Pandora Papers report, soaring debt levels and the Kemsa saga among others.

“The President does not have the luxury to give us his achievements and leave out what happened to the Pandora Papers, debt levels and what befell the Covid-19 billionaires,” Duale said.

“The people who wrote the speech were mischievous.”
