State Targeting Linturi – Claims Gladys Boss After Arrest

Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Boss has claimed the State is victimizing Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Monday, Boss said his colleague was being targeted way before he uttered the “madoadoa” remarks on Saturday at a deputy President William Ruto rally in Eldoret.

“It was on Saturday and by evening, he had received summons, I have never seen a state office that works on a Saturday,” she said.

She added: “It tells you that they were waiting for just one slight word for them to turn around the narrative against Linturi.”

The County MP urged the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to review Linturi’s entire speech before taking action against him over an isolated remark.

“I can see the hand of the state in it because immediately, the DPP is having him arrested, skipping the process of NCIC reviewing the clips and the meaning of his speech,” stated the MP.

“We have to look at it in this context; we were persuading our supporters to elect for us all-yellow leaders, from MCA to governor, a 6-piece suit. We were referring to the political party.”

In the clip that has since gone viral, Linturi is heard urging the people of Uasin Gishu to eject “madoadoa” which many construed as advocating for tribal segregation.

…Watu wa Uasin Gishu musicheze na Kenya, na kile nawaomba ni kwamba madoa doa yale mulionayo hapa muweze kuondoa…” said the Meru lawmaker.

Linturi apologized over the remarks saying he was trying to woo the electorate to reject leaders not loyal to the DP.

“At that moment, I was vigorously urging our supporters to offer full support to UDA candidates in this year’s election, and was oblivious of the possibility that my choice of words might assume negative meaning,” he said.

The lawmaker was nabbed in Eldoret and was later taken to Nakuru to record a statement before being transferred to Nairobi.

He is said to have spent the night at Gigiri Police Station pending arraignment on Monday.
