I’ve Cut Ties with Raila – Wanjigi After Being Ejected from ODM NDC

Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has cut ties with ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

This was after the presidential hopeful was roughed up and later ejected from the Kasarani Stadium where the party was holding its National Delegates Convention (NDC).

Wanjigi who is famously known as the “fixer” said Raila was to blame for the dramatic scenes witnessed earlier on in the day.

According to the tycoon, ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna mobilised goons who attacked him.

“We were welcomed until we got into the VIP section…Secretary General Sifuna organised goons…But I forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing,” he said.

“I hold Raila responsible…Raila Odinga, I thank you for the kicks and blows that I have received…Two families have decided there is no space for anyone to vie.”

Flanked by former Starehe MP aspirant Steve Mbogo, the businessman also claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta was using the former prime minister as his patsy so that he could continue his reign.

This he said as he noted that Raila has changed. He also warned aspirants seeking the ODM ticket to look elsewhere because there is no democracy within the orange party.

“I have given my life to Raila, I ask you to reject him….This is not the Raila Odinga I knew…This Raila Odinga is intoxicated by power…My relationship with him in the political arena is over…I have been shown the door, Asante ya punda ni mateke,” said the billionaire.

“Uhuru Kenyatta wants to continue in power through Raila Odinga…This is not about Raila but Uhuru who wants to extend his term.

He added: “I got some blows but my security shielded me…It’s unfortunate that I had to run, the view was that it was going to get messy…It is over between me and ODM, the party has cut ties with me.”

Wanjigi was locked out of the NDC after the ODM Nairobi chapter chairman George Aladwa stated that he was no longer a party delegate.

A defiant Wanjigi on Friday told NTV that he would show up to the NDC because he was unaware of his name being taken off the delegates list.

A case seeking to postpone the NDC was on Wednesday thrown out on grounds that it was premature.

The ODM NDC was graced by among others President Uhuru, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi of Kanu, Cyrus Jirongo, Charity Ngilu, Kivutha Kibwana, Alfred Mutua among others.
